JAMMU, Nov 9: National Legal Services Day was celebrated across the State with zeal and enthusiasm.
JAMMU: District Legal Service Authority today organised National Legal Service Day today at Sadar Court Complex, Janipur wherein officer of District Judiciary, Lawyers, Law students and litigation participated in large numbers. On the occasion, the speakers dwelled at length, upon various aspects of legal Aid and legal services in India and its historical perspective. The program was presided over by Rajesh Sikri, District Judge. In his keynote address, he elaborately dealt with the provisions of Legal Services Authority Act, 1987 and stated that much needs to be done in order to achieve the goals of this scheme i.e providing justice to the people at door steps. Shahzad Azim, President District Consumer forum, visualised the role of students and civil society in making poor and illiterate people aware of their rights and protections available to them. Sunit Gupta, CJM highlighted the role of PLV’s and retainer lawyers. He also spoke at length about the institutional mechanism under Legal Services Authority Act. The proceedings were conducted by Parvaiz Iqbal, Traffic Magistrate, Jammu. Among others who spoke include Surjit Bali, Special Mobile Magistrate Jammu, Wamgyal Tsering Forest Magistrate, Amit Gupta Advocate and Jyoti Sharma Adv. President Bar Association Jammu laid emphasis that lawyers and law students have a vital role and he also stated that how court interpreted Art 39A in the light of Art 14 & 21 of the constitution of India.
R S PURA: A Legal Awareness Camp was today organized at ITI College. Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee, RS Pura, Tehsildar Suchetgarh, Senior Prosecuting Officer, Superintendent ITI College, President Bar Association, senior and other members of Bar, Retainer Lawyers, PLVs, college staff, students and general public including border victims participated in the camp. The main purpose for organizing this camp was to lay emphasis on legal literacy and increase legal awareness amongst the masses especially those who live in border areas and where legal literacy is lacking. The effort was also to publicize legal aid schemes so that the target group, for whom Legal Services Authorities Act has provided for free legal aid, may come to know about the same and approach the concerned legal services, functionaries. A temporary Legal Aid Clinic was also opened by TLSC, RS Pura in the College where two relief camps have already been opened by district administration with specific directions to the Para Legal Volunteers to hear the grievances of the firing victims on LoC so that the same could be forwarded to the District Legal Services Authority Jammu for their redressal.
REASI: District Legal Services Authority under the chairmanship of S R Gandhi Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge Reasi celebrated National Legal Services Day today in District Court Complex. On the occasion a Legal Awareness Camp and Lok Adalat was held. The camp was attended by S R Gandhi Chairman District Legal Services Authority Reasi, Kamlesh Pandit Sub-Judge Chief Judicial Magistrate Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Reasi, Jyoti Bhagat Munsiff JMIC Reasi, KK Dubey President Bar Association Reasi, RK Sharma, VK Sharma, Shalinder Bardwaj Advocates and Retainer Lawyers Para Legal Volunteers and a large number of respectable persons. Speaking on the occasion, SR Gandhi Chairman District Legal Services Authority threw light on Right to Education Act and economically backward quota in public schools, Mental Health Act, NALSA Scheme Legal Services to mentally ill persons. Kamlesh Pandit Sub-Judge Chief Judicial Magistrate Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Reasi, Jyoti Bhagat Munsiff JMIC Reasi, KK Dubey, VK Sharma Bar President and RK Sharma also spoke on the occasion. On the occasion, a Lok Adalat was also held in which 60 cases were taken and 15 cases were decided an award of Rs 959000 was passed.
BHADERWAH: A legal awareness camp was organized at District Court Complex on the occasion of National Legal Services Day under the chairmanship of MK Sharma, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Session Judge and Manoj Parihar, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee (Sub Judge). OP Bhagat, Special Mobile Magistrate, Bhaderwah, Girja Shavan Munsiff Bhaderwah, Senior Prosecuting Officer, litigants and police personnel were present on the occasion. Advocate Vikrant Mahajan deliberated upon role of police in disseminating legal education among masses. He briefed the gathering about the different social provision of Legal Services Act and allied schemes and rules made from time to time for betterment of people. OP Bhagat concluded the programme by apprising the gathering about the importance of Legal Services Day and about the schemes being offered under Legal Service Act.
SAMBA: National Legal Services Day was celebrated in the District Court Complex under the chairmanship of ML Manhas, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge in collaboration with Chairman Tehsil legal Services commitee (Sub-Judge/CJM) Samba Deepak Sethi. On the occasion, Chairman DLSA apprised the participating supervisors, panches, sarpanches, anganwari workers, anganwari helpers, litigants and general masses about the significance of National Legal Service Day and legal rights of general masses. Chairman TLSC Samba, Swati Gupta, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Shabnam Sheikh Munsiff, Junaid Imtiyaz Mir Additional Munsiff Samba also spoke on the occasion and apprised the general masses about J&K State Legal Services Authority Act 1997. Advocates Khanmotra, Satish Dutta, Rahul Sambyal and KD Singh spoke on social welfare schemes. All members of Bar Association Samba, members of police prosecution wing, CDPO Samba Deepak Kumar and other officials were also present on the occasion.
RAJOURI: National Legal Services Day was celebrated in District Court Complex. A detailed programme to highlight the Legal Services Day was held under the chairmanship of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Rajouri Inder Singh. On the occasion, Additional District and Sessions Judge Rajouri Rajinder Saproo, Chief Judicial Magistrate Mehmood Choudhary, Special Mobile Magistrate Noshad Khan, Munsiff, District Judicial Mobile Magistrate Sarfraz, President Bar Association Haq Nawaz Mirza and many other prominent persons were present. The speakers threw light on the importance of the Day. Similar functions were also held at Tehsil Headquarters.
NOWSHERA: Tehsil Legal Services Committee celebrated National Legal Services Day at Boys Higher Secondary School under the chairmanship of Sub-Judge Sandeep Kour. On the occasion, the border residents kept in the camp are of Higher Secondary School due to prevailing condition in the border, general public, students and participants of different department were made aware of legal rightsunder different Acts and schemes. SDM Nowshera, SDPO Nowshera and participants of Social Welfare, Education and Medical Departments, all bar members, sarpanchs and panchs participated.
POONCH: District Legal Service Authority organized National Legal Service Day at Mandi. Speaking on the occasion, District Principal and Session Judge Tahir Khurshid Raina, who is also the Chairman of District Legal Service Authority said that the day was being observed to commemorate the birth of legal aid movement and also to sensitize the people about various programs of the government for the welfare and it also ensure the respect for economic, social and cultural rights which are engaged to in relation to social security, housing, social care, health and education services which may provide publicly or privately. Special Mobile Judge Ehsaan Malik, Mobile Magistrate Wajahet Kazmi, senior police officers, galaxy of lawyers besides officers running various welfare schemes of the Government were also present on the occasion. The other speakers also threw light on the significance of generating awareness and avenues to the people who otherwise are unable to afford legal representation and access to the court system. Large number of people from the area besides students and media persons enlightened themselves of their legal rights and services in the program.
KARGIL: National Legal Services Day was celebrated under the chairmanship of Tehsil Legal Services Committee Chairman and Chief Judicial Magistrate Mahmud Anwar-Al-Nasir at District Headquarters. Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Sikander Azam Chowdhary was the chief guest, while Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Deputy Superintendent of Police DR, Chief Executive officer, Dr Fatima, Assistant Regional Transport Officer and many other officers were present on the occasion. While Speaking, Sikander Azam Chowdhary enlightened the participants about the importance of the day. Earlier, Chief Judicial Magistrate presented the welcome address, whereas in the end, Munsiff Sankoo Tsewang Phuntsog presented vote of thanks.
BANDIPORA: In connection with National Legal Services Day, District Legal Services Authority today organized a function in the district under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge SK Bhagat. Chief Judicial Magistrate, Munsiff and Chairman PLSC Bandipora, President Bar Association, Lawyers, Para legal volunteers, Judiciary staff and others participated in the function. On the occasion, legal experts threw light on the importance of Legal Services Act and benefits of Lok Adalats. Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman stressed upon all the stakeholders to play their role in conveying message of legal aid schemes to the general public.
