15 day deadline for clearing status of contract: Veeri

JAMMU, Nov 8:  Asking executing agencies to speed up construction of all ongoing development works across the State, Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri today set a deadline of 15 days for clearing the status of the contract of any work.
The Minister was speaking at a joint meeting of officers of different wings of Public Works Department here today.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Public Works, Rohit Kansal, Development Commissioner Works Bimal Tikoo, Manging Director JKPCC Daleep Thusoo, Chief Engineer, R&B Kashmir Sheikh Hameed,   Chief Engineer PMGSY Jammu PL Bhushan and Chief Engineer Mechanical Engineering Department Jammu D.K. Razdan.
Veeri sought details about status of ongoing different projects of the State.
The projects which were discussed in the meeting included four lanning of Boulevard road from Nehru Park to Kralsangri, upgradation of  Tangmarg-Gulmarg road, upgradation of Hygam Tarzoo Sopore road, widening/upgradation of Ladoora Achabal road, upgradation of Khanbal Pahalgam road from Seer Hamdan to Pahalgam, upgradation of road from Sangam to Serigufwara, widening/ upgradation of Bijbhehra-Shopian road, widening /upgradation of Awantipura -Tral road.
Many projects of Jammu were also discussed which include improvement and upgradation of Koteranka Khawas road,  construction of 2000 mtr span double lane pre-stressed bridge over river Chenab at Indirpatian Pargwal improvement/widening (double lanning of Lakhanpur Thein road upto Ranjit Sagar Dam.
Veeri directed the officers to expedite follow-up of court cases of different projects in the State so that these vital projects are completed for the benefit of the people.
The Minister directed immediate finalization of projects of each constituency to be taken under batch II of phase 10th of PMGSY.
The officers in the meeting apprised the Minister that departments are coordinating with each other in the utilization of machines effectively for upgradation and construction of major road projects in Udhampur, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Poonch and other areas.
