Srinagar, Nov 1: A group of girl students today staged a protest demanding scooties under ‘scooty scheme’ of State Government here outside Women College at Maulana Azad Road.
Over a dozen girl students appeared near the main entrance of Women’s College and started sloganeering in favour of their demand. The girls with their faces covered and flanked by couple of women, also sat down on the busy Maulana Azad Road, resulting in traffic halt.
Alleging partiality in the distribution of scooties, the aggrieved protesting girls said even as the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had announced scooty for all and for poor but that is not happening. “They (College Administration) say now there has been delay but even now they in front of us gave form to a girl because she was influential. This is extremely wrong,” they said.
This is for the second time that girl students are protesting in Srinagar over scooty demand. Last time, they had protested outside Chief Minister’s residence here at Fairview Gupkar for similar demand. The girl protesters here today later dispersed peacefully.
