SRINAGAR, Nov 1: Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today asked Education Minister to own responsibility over Government’s failure in protecting school buildings from mysterious attack and step down on moral grounds.
Stating that Education Minister is responsible to protect school buildings particularly those owned by the Government Vakil said “an unwanted confrontation with students has given an opportunity to vested interests to burn school buildings and Government has failed to protect even Government school building.
Alleging that one miscalculated decision of the Education Minister over the conduct of examination has created an atmosphere of insecurity and instability in the Education Department, Vakil said it is very unfortunate the Prime Minister of the country is asking the Home Minister to take steps for reopening schools in Valley which is the job of Director of School Education and at the most that of Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir.
Vakil appealed all the political leaders belonging from different shades of opinions to get united and fight against those forces who are hell bent upon playing with future of younger generation by burning education institutions and at the same time, he stressed upon the Government to show it existence by identifying the elements who are involved in this heinous crime and should be punished severely.
