Farooq Muztar, Khurshid Bismil awarded with ‘Pride of Pirpanchal’

POONCH, Oct 16: Moha-mmad Farooq Muztar and Khurshid Ahmed Bismal have been conferred with ‘Pride of Pirpanchal ‘awards by the  J&K Alig Society Poonch.
Both hail from Thana Mandi town of district Rajouri and have many things in common. They have been chosen for the award for their distinguished contribution in the field of education in the Pirpanchal region.
They were given the ‘Pride of Pirpanchal’ award in Sir Syed Day function, here today at Govt Degree College Poonch. Justice (Rtd) Bashir Ahmed Kirmani,  member  State Accountability  Commission, was   chief guest on the occasion while Tahir Khurshid Raina, Principal District and Sessions Judge Poonch,  prsided over the  function.
The important hallmark of Muztar for being chosen for this award is his immense contribution in the field of education in the Pirpanchal region. He founded an educational  institution  in early eighties in Rajouri town  which has now grown  to the  level of college namely  Himalayan college of Education.
Muztar  started his career as  a  poet but later shifted  his interest   to field of education. He is the first Gold medalist of Pirpanchal region in Urdu from Jammu  University and literary  icon of the region.
Khurshid Ahmed Bismil also hails from Thanamandi town of district Rajouri. He too started his career as a poet   in late sixties and got fully absorbed in literary activities.  He established a tiny school in Thanamandi on first November 1976 under name MET Baba Ghulam Shah Academy.  This school was first of its kind in the entire Pirpanchal region. Under the banner of this institution he started   educational movement in the area which led to creation of hundreds of schools in the region.
It was done by him with a sole intention to create revolution in the field of modern education in this remote and educationally backward region of the State.
The Alig Society  comprises of aluminies of AMU, who  include  Prof  Mushraf  Hussain  Shah as it’s  president, Dr  Shamim Banday as it’s secretary and Shafiq Ahmed  Choudhary, Sr  KAS  officer,  as it’s convener.
