KATHUA, Oct 5: Demanding the immediate redressal of their long pending problems, the Provincial Electrical Employees Union (PEEU) held a protest demonstration at Hiranagar today.
Led by president of the Union, P C Sharma the employees raised slogans in support of their demands and criticized the authorities for their failure in keeping the promise made with Union office bearers last year in this regard.  They accused authorities of their total failure in carrying out the order of the Principal Secretary Power issued in February last year in which directives were issued that the DPC be held at circle level.
They said that there is a lot of resentment among the employees for failure of authorities to conduct the DPC till date.
The protestors said that the employees working on receiving stations face many problems as no drinking water is made available at these stations. Besides, there are no facilities of toilets, the workers have not been provided  the tool kits, there is no fire extinguisher nor the employees are provided with safety tools by the authorities there by putting their lives to grave risk.
Sharma said the employees regularized under SRO 64 have not been given the retrospective effect as was promised.
He said the delegation of the Union also met the SE Kathua Circle Sanjeev Rathore today and gave a memorandum to him in this regard. The SE assured that the DPC will be held by October 15.
Addressing the protestors Hardarshan Singh district president warned that in case the demands were not settled the Union will be forced to intensify the agitation.
