3370 await clearance to visit PoK

JAMMU, Oct 3: About 3370 residents from Jammu and Kashmir await clearance from the Pakistani authorities to visit their relatives residing in Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Official sources told the Excelsior that for the last six weeks, not even a single visitor from this part of the Jammu and Kashmir crossed over to that side from Chakkan-da-Bagh cross LoC point to meet their relatives living in Pak occupied Kashmir. Even today, not even a single Indian visitor was seen in the Rawlakote bound bus starting from Poonch city.
A senior official from the district administration said that today 33 PoK residents crossed over to that side in the PoK bound bus while 17 fresh PoK guests arrived Poonch city from that side. Not even single Indian resident travelled in either of the buses today on the sixth consecutive Monday.
He disclosed that this cross LoC bus between Poonch and Rawlakote operates on every Monday as per agreement between the Governments of Pakistan and India. While Indian authorities at Delhi are continuously clearing the travel permit/ documents of the PoK residents, the Pakistani authorities are not giving green nod to the pending nearly 3370 applications of the Indians from Rajouri-Poonch who intend to visit their relatives living on that side of the LoC.
The people from this side who have applied for the visit to their relatives living in PoK are taking turns of the office of Deputy Commissioner Poonch but often return home disappointed. The District Administration has taken up the issue with the higher authorities in the State and also with the officials of Ministry of External Affairs at Delhi, the official said.
