JAMMU, Oct 3: All India Jat Mahasabha (AIJMS), J&K has constituted Basohli unit of the Sabha.
State president of the Jat Mahasabha Ch Man Mohan Singh (former Mayor, Jammu) conducted tour of Basohli area and held meetings of his community at villages Plahi, Ghagrore Jankhar, Rohan, Kharana and Batara to access ground condition of Jats of tehsil Basohli in district Kathua.
A meeting of the Jats of these villages was later held at Basohli town in which a large number of community members participated and Tehsil Body of AIJMS was elected unanimously. Narinder Singh was unanimously elected as president, Mohan Singh vice president while Pardeep Singh general secretary. Chunni Singh was elected as youth wing president of the Sabha.
The community leaders of Basohli were excited to know that there is a unified All India Jat Mahasabha State and Central level. They said no Jat community leader ever visited to them at Basohli and were unaware that Jats have any Sabha. They thanked state president who visited Basohli to listen to their grievances.
Ch Man Mohan Singh while addressing the members said that it is need of the hour for Jat community to be united under the banner of AIJMS-J&K to teach a lesson to those who used and betrayed the community in the past. He claimed that many Jats have lost lives in shelling from across the border but Govt provided no assistance. Even in view of the present border tension, majority of the people disturbed from the borders are Jats.
He advised the community to educate their children at any cost to face the future challenges.
Those who spoke on the occasion are DySP Dewan Singh, Capt Om Singh, Subash Singh, Sat Pal (Teh president Kathua), Avtar Krishan, Ch Sham, Satish Singh, Narinder Singh, Pardeep Singh, Dhain Singh, Mohan Singh and Chunni Singh.
