JAMMU, Sept 6: High Court today directed the Station House Officer of Gandhi Nagar Police Station to file status report in the disappearance of girl since 2014 or appear in person on next date of hearing.
A girl namely Renu was forcibly taken away by private respondents in the year 2014 and since then her whereabouts are not known.
Advocate Aditya Sharma appearing for the petitioner (father of the girl) submitted that the petitioner had approached the National Commission for Women, Human Rights Commission as well as the higher police officials a number of times but till today nothing has been done.
After hearing counsel for the petitioner, Justice Tashi Rabstan observed, “despite lapse of more than 11 months, status report has not been filed by the police”. Accordingly, High Court directed SHO Gandhi Nagar to file status report within two weeks with respect to the action taken till today failing which he shall appear in person on next date of hearing.
