JKWDC organizes loan mela-cum-awareness prog

KATHUA, Sept 5: Jammu and Kashmir Women Development Corporation (JKWDC) in collaboration with National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC) today organized loan mela-cum-awareness programme at Kartar Public School Barnoti, here.
On the occasion, MLA Kathua, Rajiv Jasrotia was chief guest, who while speaking called for strengthening the Corporation through vigour steps.
He said the Corporation is responsible for helping the needy women by extending soft loan facilities to them to help establish and run their own income generating ventures, moreover helping in employment generation.
“NMDFC was incorporated on September 30, 1994, with the objective of promoting economic activities amongst the backward sections of notified minorities. To achieve its objective, NMDFC is providing concessional finance for self-employment activities to eligible beneficiaries belonging to the minority communities, having a family income below double the poverty line”, MLA added.
He said the corporation is working for the upliftment of socially and economically marginalized women by imparting trainings for skill development and extending loans facilities for establishment of self income generating units and market support.
On this occasion, cheques worth lakhs were distributed among the beneficiaries of district Kathua under NMDFC at an awareness camp organized to aware about the schemes being run by the corporation and their socio-legal rights here today.
In view of ban on polythene bags, the corporation is promoting production of jute bags for which Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Katra (SMVDSB) has giant demand.
