JAMMU, Sept 5: Several trade union leaders from Jammu have expressed strong resentment against the Government for the arrest and harassment of noted trade unionist leader Abdul Qayoom Wani and some others in Srinagar.
In an extraordinary meeting of various Trade Unions like J&K Govt Employees and Worker Federation headed of Kulwant Singh, Lekh Raj Khajuria J&K National Trade Union Front led by Mohd Gafoor Dar, J&K United School Teacher Association headed by Hari Singh, J&K Medical Employees United Front led by Popinder Singh, J&K ITI Employees United Front headed by Nazir Ahmed Molvi, J&K Public Library Employees Association led by Shahid Hussain, Handicrafts Employees Association headed by Subash Chander, JDA Employees and Workers Union headed by Rajinder Kumar, J&K Sports Council Employees Union led by Vikramjit Singh, J&K Cultural Academy Employees Union headed by Romesh Singh, held at Jammu under the presidium of Mohd Gafoor Dar, S. Kulwant Singh and Hari Singh, the members condemned the anti-working class and anti-employees policies of State Coalition Govt for arresting and harassing the trade union leaders particularly Abdul Qayoom Wani, president Employees Joint Action Committee and his colleagues for the reason best known to the J&K Govt.
These leaders demanded immediate release of Mr Wani and his colleagues. They further cleared that working class of the State has always helped the State Govt to restore peace and maintain communal harmony in the State and this suppressing attitude of the Govt is not strange and unacceptable.
