LEH, Aug 29: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) in collaboration with SDRF conducts disaster preparedness awareness programme at Skampari today under the Neighbourhood Youth Parliament Programme.
Lower Leh Councillor P Wangdan Shunu, NYK District Coordinator Tajamul Ara, SDRF personnel and large number of Skampari resident were present during awareness camp.
On the occasion, SDRF personnel through power point presentation and practical demonstration educated how one can provide first aid services to patient during disaster emergency.
Interacting with media persons, NYK Coordinator Tajamul informed that such camps were held in Mudh in Nyoma, Khaltsi and Kharu blocks and there is plan to carry out such campaign in nine block including Turtuk, Panamik etc.
She also informed that NYK also spread awareness on Betai Bacho Beti Padhao, Jandhan Yojna, Yoga, Women Education, Cleanliness and disaster awareness during their campaign.
Lower Leh Councillor P.Wangdan Shunu said that in wake of frequent disaster in Ladakh due to global warming and other factors one must have proper knowledge to provide first aid service to handle patient.
He asserted that such awareness camps should be held frequently to educate the public at large as Ladakh being an earthquake prone region must be prepared to face any eventuality and lack of disaster awareness can lead to problems during such crises.
