LEH, Aug 14: Spiritual leader Dalai Lama today said that only compassion and love can bring an end to violence in the world.
Addressing a function organised by Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh under the chairmanship of CEC Dr Sonam Dawa at Choglamsar, Dalai Lama said, “presently there are lots of killings happening in the world which cannot be reduced by force, money and manipulative actions but through compassion and love”.
“Every religion spread the message of love and we must try to practice love and compassion in our daily life,” he further said and laid emphasis on making maximum use of intelligence, knowledge, experimentation and critical investigation to make compassion a part of daily life and sustenance of Buddha dharma for another many centuries.
“It is my commitment to promote compassion through education based on secular principles and draft curriculum on secular ethics will be completed by end of this year,” he said and asserted that people sharing same spiritual freedom and tradition in the entire Himalayan belt can preserve traditional knowledge of Buddhist philosophy and help restore it in Tibet once the situation changes because Tibetan Buddhism is pure lineage of Nalanda Buddhism which even Chinese scholars are realising now showing genuine interest in Tibetan Buddhism.
