POONCH, Aug 7: Army organised amity meeting with prominent members of the society vis-à-vis weapons display for the children at Mendhar.
Army has opened new avenues for the locals for growth and development under Sadbhavana initiative.
Subsequently, based on this feedback and interaction, numerous projects can be undertaken in the field of education, health, infrastructure, sports, agriculture and empowerment of youth etc.
The event was attended by many prominent members of the society hailing from the area of responsibility of battalion.
Various aspects like general well being of villagers, requirement of schools, measures to help the girl child and employment of youth in sports were discussed.
Army representatives also briefed the locals in detail on various projects being executed by Army to include schedule of medical camps, veterinary camps, nursing training, Poonch football sports league tournament, construction of toilets and drinking water facilities at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mendhar and Government Higher Secondary School, Mendhar.
A weapon display was also organised by Army with an aim of giving the student exposure to equipment in the Armed Forces and to motivate them to join Armed Forces.
A total of 29 children from the nearby schools and locals from Mendhar visited the display venue at camp location. The students observed the details of the weapons with lot of enthusiasm.
