BOSE suspends Shair’s niece

SRINAGAR, Sept 25:  As the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) is yet to seize the records of programme details of Doordarshan Kendra (DDK), Srinagar, from former Director Shami Shair’s room, the Board of School Education (BOSE) today suspended her niece who was major beneficiary of DD programmes.
The BOSE officials today suspended Shair’s niece, Naila Neelofar as Academic Officer (English). An order issued here (No: 568-B of 2012 Dated 25-09-2012) says Ms Naila Neelofar has been placed under suspension, removed as Academic Officer (English) and attached to Joint Secretary Administration Kashmir Division.
The action was taken after chairman of the BOSE received preliminary report of the inquiry panel which he had formed early this year after he received a compliant against Naila. The BOSE Chairman, Dr Sheikh Bashir Ahmad, ordered suspension of Naila after preliminary inquiry today established her involvement.
Naila was yesterday asked to appear before a 2-member committee, comprising Director Academics Malik Ghulam Hassan and Assistant Secretary Examinations (Kashmir) Farooq Ahmad Khan, formed by the chairman BOSE early this year.
Naila was earlier charge-sheeted (F(Chrge Sht./Prb)-12 dated 27-6-2012) by BOSE inquiry committee in which she was asked to explain her position regarding receiving DD projects when she was a permanent employee of the BOSE. She in her explanation had said earlier that she was a script writer for the project which is allowed as per the service rules.
Reports said that Naila today admitted before the inquiry committee that she has received a Home Ministry-sponsored counter-propaganda DD project as a producer while she was a permanent Government employee. The service rules bar the Government employees from taking such TV projects.
Sources said that Naila may face termination from the services for cheating the Government and DD as she filed an affidavit with DD in which she had declared that she is not government employee.
It may be mentioned here that besides being the major beneficiary among Shami Shair’s relatives, Naila Neelofar, had been granted Union Home Ministry’s counter-propaganda serial for approved budget of Rs 24 lakhs when she was BOSE official. Naila has been working with the BOSE since 2005.
Naila had received Rs 10.80 lakh in her Account, M/S Aabid Films at New Theed branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank Ltd early this year. She has three Bank accounts which were likely to be seized by the CBI.
