SAMBA, July 24: ‘Banwas’, latest Dogri book of prominent Dogri poet Bishan Singh Dardi of village Kaloha in Samba district, was released here today.
The book, based on the story of Ramayana in a poetic manner, was released by Dr Pawan Kotwal, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, along with DC Samba Sheetal Nanda, Station Director Radio Kashmir Jammu, V K Sambyal and SSP Samba Joginder Singh.
In his address, chief guest Pawan Kotwal applauded the contribution of Bishan Singh Dardi towards Dogri language and culture by writing such Dogri poems and songs.
Sheetal Nanda, V K Sambyal and Joginder Singh also spoke on the occasion.
After formal release of the `Banwas’, a paper about poet Bishan Singh Dardi and his book was presented by Dr Sushma Rani, a prominent Dogri writer, who mentioned about the works of Bishan Singh Dardi.
The function in this regard was organized by the civil society of Samba and prominent organizations, including Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha Samba, Lions Club Samba and Rotary Club Samba.
During the function, a few songs written by Bishan Singh Dardi were also presented by a team of artists from Radio Kashmir Jammu.
Former DIG, Vijay Singh Sambyal presented a welcome address while Mohan Singh Slathia compeered the programme. Advocate Subash Singh Sambyal presented vote of thanks.
