MENDHAR, July 5: Members of two groups clashed during a meeting in presence of R&B officers at Dak Bungalow Mendhar and damaged furniture and building this afternoon.
Reports said that SE PMGSY Rajouri-Poonch, Mr Dogra and SE R&B Rajouri Circle Abdul Majid Wani had come to Mendhar town to settle an old dispute between two parties over the changed alignment of a PMGSY Road. Both parties led by Showkat Ahmed Khan and Mohd Khursheed Mir were also invited by the PWD officers for the meeting.
During discussion, hot words between the two took an ugly turn. Members from both the sides threw chairs and tables on each other and also caused damage to window glasses of the building. The Government property was damaged and furniture ransacked by the villagers. The officers escaped to the safety and informed police.
Police party led by SDPO Shahid Nahim rushed there. The accused had escaped from the spot. The police said that an FIR was lodged against the accused persons.
