Council adjourned sine-die

SRINAGAR, July 2: The Legislative Council was today adjourned sine die after transacting business for last day of the Budget Session-2016.
Chairman, Haji Anayat Ali in exercise of powers conferred upon him under Rule 16 of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council adjourned the House sine die.
The Chairman expressed gratitude to the members of the House of their cooperation in ensuring smooth conduct of the Council proceedings.
Giving details, the Chairman said out of 705 questions, 458 starred and 243 un-starred were taken up during the session.
He said 22 resolutions were received out of which 13 were taken up and two adopted, 127 calling attention notices were received out of which 52 were taken up, 27  discussions under Rule 51 (2) and 6-A were received out of which 6 were taken up.
The Chairman said that 11 Private member’s bills were received for introduction out of which 7 were taken up. He said 12 papers were laid on the table of the House during the session.
The Chairman informed that during the session 13 Government bills were received out of which 6 were returned to the Legislative Assembly and 7 were passed. He said discussions on the working of three Ministries were conducted during the session.
Earlier, several members including Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, Ramesh Arora, Ghulam Nabi Monga and Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri spoke on the concluding day of the session and appreciated the Chairman for giving ample opportunities to the members to highlight and project the problems in their respective areas.
