Process started for filling up of vacant CIC, SIC posts

SRINAGAR, June 30: Minister for Agriculture Production Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, today said that General Administration Department has initiated process for filling up of vacant CIC and SIC posts for the State.
The Minister was replying to a Calling Attention Notice of Naresh Kumar Gupta, on behalf of Minister for Home.
He said State Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) and the State Information Commissioner (SIC) are being appointed by the Governor on the recommendations of a Committee comprising Chief Minister as Chairperson, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly and a Cabinet Minister to be nominated by the Chief Minister as its members.
The Minister said that term of the office of State Chief Information Commissioner and the State Information Commissioner is five year or till attainment of the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier. He said that the positions of State Chief Information Commissioner and one State Information Commissioner are lying vacant since February, 2016 and October, 2015 respectively.
