Srinagar, June 24: Government today said no proposal has been received by the Planning Department for concurrence under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode for opening of new tourist destinations in J&K.
In a written reply to a question of Ali Mohammad Sagar in Lower House, Minister incharge Tourism stated that the Government has accorded sanction for implementation of projects in PPP in the tourism sector. The projects as and when received by Tourism Department are being submitted to PPP cell created in the Finance Department for examination and consultation, said the Minister.
In his supplementary, Nawang Rigzin Jora asked whether any such project is in pipe line. Replying to the supplementary, the Minister said: “No proposal has been received by the Planning Department under PPP mode.”
In his separate supplementary, Ali Mohammad Sagar asked about the blue print of the project and what is Government doing to implement the projects. The Minister said that they have created a special PPP cell in Finance Department which will examine the projects. “The selected projects will be sent to Planning Department for concurrence which will then go to the Cabinet for approval,” the Minister said.
The Minister stated that Tourism Department has no proposal to announce incentive package for the public private partnership in the State for adventure and pilgrimage tourism. “The funds are being allotted on the basis of identified tourist spot, tourist inflow and carrying capacity of each destination. On average, the Plan Capex of Tourism Department is around Rs 80- 90 crore annually. It may be added that out of the total plan budget of the department for the year 2015-16, 33% of the allocation of the department was exclusively released for execution of new works of the department,” added the Minister.
