SRINAGAR, Sept 21: Hailing the initiative of J&K Police to organise week long painters workshop in Srinagar, the Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Prasad has said that the event provided a platform to the youth of the State to exhibit their talent and to interact with the painters of national fame.
Speaking at the concluding function of the week long painters’ workshop held at Officers’ Mess Humhama, Mr. Prasad said the workshop will prove very useful and beneficial for the youth of the State, adding that J&K Police would organise such events in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions in future also. He said some memorable and rare paintings have been created at the workshop, which will be preserved in the Police Head Quarters and displayed in mega events from time to time.
Stressing upon the young artists to avail the opportunities provided by Jammu and Kashmir Police to excel in the field of art, the DGP said that the Organisation has been conducting various activities under its Civic Action Programme to cultivate talent among the youth of the State. He said that such events are conducted with the aim to provide a plate form for the reputed artists to share their experiences with the budding artists of the State and hone their talent.
The Workshop started from 15th September 2012 wherein 9 artists with national fame participated, besides 7 artists from the State. Artists of national repute from different parts of the country who participated in camp included Yousuf from Bhopal, Milan Dass from Patna, Sajal from Broda, Vidya Sagar Uladlaya from Jaipur, Rajan Fulari from Goa, Sangeeta Murthy from Gurgoan, Rathindranath Kanji from Kolkatta and Huim Rajni, Shridhar Iyer from New Delhi.
Similarly, the State level artists who participated in the workshop included Javed Iqbal, Mohammad Yousuf Bacha, Masarat Mehboob, Rakesh Kumar, Madasir Gull, Arshad Hussain and K. K. Gandhi.
The DGP said that the men in khaki are the part of the society and they also have a human heart and feeling for the progress of the State. The youth have to play a significant role in nation building and need to be guided properly and encouraged for ensuring a bright future for them.
Among others, the function was attended by Additional Directors General of Police, Dr Ram Lubhia and S.P.Vaid, Inspectors General of Police, V.K.Singh, S.M.Sahai, Dilbagh Singh, Owais Ahmad, Arun Kumar, M. Sulaiman Salaria, Rouf ul Hassan, Abdul Gani Mir, Alok Puri, H. K. lohia and Sunil Kumar Sharma, Dy Inspectors General of Police P. Namgyal, A.K.Atri, J.P.Singh, Syed Afdha-ul-Mujtaba, Sheikh Abdul Hamid, Showkat Malik and other police officers.
