Consolidated SRTC workers go on strike

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, June 14: Consolidated/ daily rated  workers of SRTC including drivers today went on strike demanding their regularization.
The drivers put their keys down  and refused to ply vehicles/ buses.   They started protest dharna at SRTC complex Railway Road here.  The speakers at the dharna site alleged that despite decision during the  meeting of the Board of Directors   of  SRTC in 2010, the consolidated/ daily rated workers have not been regularized.  They demanded that Government should regularize their services, otherwise, they would take their strike to the logical conclusion.
On June 10, they had announced their strike programme. The Union president Didar Singh was called by the Management for talks to Srinagar  but after reaching there, the union team at Srinagar  found that nothing was there for the daily rated workers and it was just an attempt to befool them.  Then the workers got more agitated and decided to launch their agitation.
