JAMMU, June 13: The workers of Shiv Sena (AG) and Dogra Front under the leadership of their president, Ashok Gupta, today took out a procession along with 3000 ‘rehri walas’ from Raj Tilak Road to Kachhi Chawni
The procession passed through Purani Mandi, Old Hospital Road, City Chowk, Raghunath Bazar, Hari Market, Shalamar Road, Indira Chowk, KC Theatre, Shakuntla Chowk and Parade Road.
MLA Jammu East, Rajesh Gupta also joined Ashok Gupta in support of the rehri walas’ agitation. While addressing the rally, the MLA assured the gathering that the rehri walas would be settled in appropriate areas where they can earn their livelihoods and making sure that the controversial places would not be allotted.
The MLA further stated that the Deputy CM, Nirmal Singh is in Allahabad. He said as Deputy CM would be coming back by Tuesday, he would take up the matter with him and get a concrete resolve of the situation.
Earlier, Ashok Gupta stated that the stone pelters and the surrendered militants are being rehabilitated in the Valley by providing them land to start their work but on the contrary, the people who are earning their livelihoods through rehris are been made unemployed by making them move into places where there is no business at all.
Gupta demanded that the rehri walas must be settled at those places where they can earn their livelihoods and once for all they should be provided with the permanent place so that no individual should play with their earnings as per their fancies.
