Habitual truck lifter, associate arrested

JAMMU, June 13: Gangyal police arrested a habitual truck lifter along with his associate and recovered stolen items including truck, which was recently stolen from Kunjwani Bye Pass.
As per police sources, on June 5, Inderjeet Singh, son of Rajinder Singh of Shiva Colony lodged a written complaint with Gangyal police station stating that he parked his truck bearing registration number JK02N-3866 loaded with genset worth Rs 17 lakh near Kunjwani Bye Pass and went to his home Shiva Colony. In the morning, when he came to take his vehicle to Srinagar, the complainant found the vehicle along with genset missing.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 61/16 under Section 379 RPC was registered at Gangyal police station and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, several teams were dispatched to various areas and finally a person identified as Raj Kumar, son of Munshi Ram of Sonal Bajalta, district Udhampur was picked-up for questioning, during which he broke down and confessed to commit the theft. On his disclosure, truck along with genset was recovered.
During further investigation, it came to fore that the accused Raj Kumar is a habitual truck lifter and he also confessed that prior to this, he had lifted a truck bearing registration number JK02R-6733 from the jurisdiction of police station Bagh-e-Bahu, two trucks from the jurisdiction of police post Narwal and one truck from the jurisdiction of police post Gadigarh.
On the disclosure of the accused, 4 tyres of trucks, two batteries, two rims, jack and other material were recovered from Joginder Pal, son of Tunda Ram of Tirad, district Samba. The said tyres were sold by the accused Raj Kumar to Joginder Pal and accordingly Joginder Pal was arrested and booked under Section 411 RPC.
Further questioning of the accused is going on and more recoveries are likely to be made in near future.
