SRINAGAR, June 13: Government today said under National Ayush Mission, one village in every district of the State has been adopted as Ayush Gram and the process of starting first batches at two new Ayurvedic Medical Colleges has been initiated.
In a written reply to a question of MLA Sat Paul Sharma in Lower House, Minister Incharge Health and Medical Department stated that the Department of Indian Systems of Medicine is providing health care facilities through 558 stand alone Indian Systems of Medicine ( Ayurvedic/ Unani) dispensaries and two State level hospitals i.e. 50 Bedded Government Ayurvedic hospitals at Jammu and 50 bedded Government Unani Hospital at Shalteng, Srinagar.
The Minister stated under National Ayush Mission, one village in every district has been adopted as Ayush Gram and many other activities have been taken under National Ayush Mission in the State.
Construction work for establishment of 2 Government Medical Colleges at Jammu and Unani Medical College at Srinagar has almost been completed and the process of starting of first batches has been initiated, the Minister stated, adding that 87 new ISM dispensaries have been established one for each constituency in the State.
The Minister further stated the amount spent for the construction of Ayurvedic College in Jammu is Rs. 1619 lakhs against the estimated cost of Rs. 2580 lakhs. The proposal to start first Batch of BAMS Ayurvedic College at Jammu has been taken up with Ministry of Ayush Government of India, New Delhi for permission, he added.
