Bali interacts with public, announces free medicines in Govt hospitals

JAMMU, June 10: Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat held a public interaction session at Bharatiya Janata Party Office at Kachi Chawni, here today and gave a patient hearing to their grievances, difficulties and suggestions.
More than 200 people from different areas in and around Jammu interacted with the Minister. A large number of women also interacted with the Minister and apprised him of health care problems being faced in different parts of the city. Minister gave on the spot instructions to the satisfaction of the people. One lady complained to the Minister that about a couple of days back she was taken to a city hospital for treatment after meeting with an accident. However, she was asked by the doctor to get the X-ray done from the market while the hospital had three functional machines. Later she was also asked to purchase the material needed for plastering her fractured hand.
Minister took a serious note of it and ordered Director Health Services to institute an enquiry and furnish a detailed report so that the defaulter can be taken to task. He informed the public that w.e.f July 1, this year free medicines will be provided at all district hospitals and below. He also informed that all medical employees who have been posted at a particular place  continuously for a long period are being transferred immediately.
The minister also listened to problems related to non-availability of doctors in some hospitals. Bali Bhagat said that action is in hand to post specialist doctors as per authorization to all hospitals especially those in remote areas. The minister was also apprised about difficulties being faced in the newly established Oncology Department. He instructed Principal GMC to ensure that all cancer patients are provided free medicines with immediate effect. He mentioned that Government has recently sanctioned Rs. one crore for the purpose.
Two large deputations from Raipur Damana Constituency represented by Mr Bhagat also met the minister with their problems. Apart from these a delegation of volunteers also met the minister in connection with the celebration of International Blood Donation Day on June 14 and International Yoga Day on  June 21. Minister assured them of full cooperation.
