1547 land compensation cases pending in J&K

 

SRINAGAR:  As many as 1547 cases land compensation and employment cases are pending in Jammu and Kashmir, where land was acquired for different schemes by Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Irrigation departments.

However, 3427 people have been provided compensation or employment in the State.

Minister for PHE Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Shyam Lal Choudhary said this in reply to a question by Master Noor Hussain in the Legislative Council. He said 935 cases are pending in PHE, Jammu followed by Kashmir 463, I&FC, Jammu 132 and I&FC Kashmir 17.

Mr Choudhary said that 2,263 people were paid compensation or employment in PHE department in Jammu while the number in the Kashmir valley was 1,027.

Altogether 121 cases were settled by I&FC in Jammu while in Kashmir it was 14, he said adding that two more cases were settled by Chief engineer in Kathua. (AGENCIES)
