Refurbished Zero Bridge

The historic Zero Bridge over the Jhelum in Srinagar had been abandoned for vehicular traffic because its wooden structure was declared unsuited for safety. Only pedestrians were allowed to walk over it. The bridge connecting Rajbagh with Sonar has been refurbished at a cost of 11 crore rupees. Besides, a Food Court has also been inaugurated by the Chief Minister along with the inauguration of the Zero Bridge.
154 meters long Zero Bridge revamped with deodar and wooden decks on both sides is now a heritage tourism spot as had been desired by the late Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed. In particular, the Food Court and eateries along the bank of the river would be added attraction for the tourists to know the city and its history. We think more eateries and Food Courts should be opened by the Tourist Department at many historical places in the city of Srinagar and some other tourist spots of historical value especially the shrines often visited by tourists to Kashmir.
