Srinagar, May 27: To include more women in the police service, Government today said that it had advertised 4000 posts of women constables (1000 in executive police and 3000 in Armed Police).
In a written reply to MLA Shamim Firdous’s question in Lower House, the Minister- in- charge Home said that among the 4000 posts that were advertised 2484 female candidates after qualifying Physical Endurance Test (PST) appeared in the written test.
“These posts are being filled through the Transparent Requirement Process and not through On- Spot Recruitment”, he said.
“Separate physical standards have already been prescribed for purpose of their recruitment in Police Department. For female candidates height is 5’2″ as compared to male candidates which is 5’6″. For candidates belonging to Leh, Kargil and Gorkha Community the prescribed height is 5ft,” he said.
