Srinagar, May 26: In a case of alleged discrimination, the households of a residential colony in Chanpora area on city outskirts said only 30 percent of the road is being macadamized by the concerned department while the rest has been left unattended due to reasons known to officials.
The residents of Khan Colony in Chanapora said their colony is decades old and there are nearly 1000 households but alleged that Government is only taking care of 300 households who might have political affiliations as the government has taken up only 30 percent of the roads for construction while the rest 70% is being ignored.
The locals accused concerned R&B Department of adopting lackadaisical and discriminatory approach.
When contacted, the MLA Amira Kadal and former R&B Minister, Altaf Bukhari, said without proper drainage the road cannot be successful and they have made a comprehensive plan for the colony.
Asked about the possible miscommunications and why only thirty percent of the road is being macadamized, he said: “I have asked them to stop the work immediately. We have devised a comprehensive plan and let me assure you that by the end of June entire Colony will be black topped. But first of all we need to arrange drainage of the entire area only then can our road last long,” he added.
