JAMMU, May 25: On the 3rd day of the on-going four-day musical festival entitled ‘Pounger’ being organized by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) here in KL Saigal Hall, Academy Complex, the participating budding classical singers enthralled the audience with their impressive performances.
BS Bali, a well known and seasoned artist and former-Principal, Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu, was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL, was also present in the presidium.
While delivering his speech as chief guest, BS Bali lauded the role of the Academy in bringing ahead the youth of the State in different genres of the art field. He said that by providing platform to the youth, JKAACL is doing splendid job in the promotion of art and culture of the State.
He blessed the participating young artists and also expressed his satisfaction that the future of Indian classical music is in safe hands and is all set to touch new heights in future.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn informed about the idea of initiating the series ‘Pounger’ the musical programme. He further informed that on concluding day i.e. on May 26, the instrumental performances by the budding artists will be performed and on May 27, a two-day All India Hindi Writers’ Conference will be inaugurated by Dr Pawan Kotwal, Commissioner Secretary, Jammu at 9.30 am at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.
Those who performed today were Sonia Raj (Raag Yaman), Ridhima (Raag Mal Kounce), Sanvi Anand (Raag Dash), Gouri  Shankar (Raag Purya dhanashree), Hirdeshti Mahajan (Raag Vrindavani  Sarang), Pavittar Sharma (Raag Bahaar ) and the accompanist were Niraj Verma on Tabla and Krishan Lal on Harimonium.
Bhopinder Singh, Choreographer, JKAACL, conducted the proceedings of the programme.
