JAMMU, May 24: In the much publicized Bapu Asharam Ashram case, Justice Tashi Rabstan took serious note of the functioning of police and directed SSP Jammu to file affidavit.
After hearing counsels for both the sides, Justice Rabstan observed, “Deputy Inspector General of Police of Jammu/Samba/Kathua Range vide communication dated 21.04.2016 accorded sanction in favour of police officers/officials of District Jammu to proceed Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, MP in connection with investigation of the case”, adding “the status report filed by respondents on May 4, 2016 states that team will be deputed shortly after getting administrative approval”.
“The court is surprised that despite sanction order what further approval is to be required. Therefore, the conduct of the respondents in dealing this case is nothing, but to delay the investigation”, Justice Rabstan said and directed SSP Jammu to file affidavit by or before next date of hearing to explain the delay for not deputing the officers despite sanction obtained on 21.04.2016.
