*Annual plan of Rs 89.32 cr approved for Samba

SAMBA, May 21: The District Development Board Samba that met here today under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh approved an annual plan of Rs. 89.32 crore for carrying out various developmental works in the district during the year 2016-17.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga, Member Parliament, Jugal Kishore Sharma ,Chairperson Social Welfare Board Nirmal Gupta, Vice Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for development of Scheduled Castes, Bhushan Lal Dogra, Vice Chairman J&K Advisory board for Development of Kissans, DS Chib, MLA Samba Devinder Kumar Manyal, MLA Hiranagar Kuldeep Raj, MLCs Noor Hussain and Sham Lal, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal HoD’s and officers of district administration .
Pitching for formulation of area specific plans, DyCM asked the officers to include meticulous details and keep in view the topography and other related aspects of a particular area to meet the developmental needs of the people.
He also called for involving the concerned MLAs while chalking out developmental plans in their respective constituencies.
Underlining the need for optimal utilization of funds, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the officers to ensure that utilization certificates for works done under the centrally sponsored schemes are submitted in time.
He also laid special emphasis on taking concerted efforts to make the district 100% defecation free, while directing for formulation of comprehensive plans for irrigation sector to meet the irrigation needs of kandi areas of the district.
The Dy CM while stressing on adherence to the fixed timelines for completion of various developmental projects, said that people have pinned great hopes on Government and every effort would be made to meet their aspirations and provide them best of amenities.
Underscoring the importance of implementation of all DDB decisions in letter and spirit, the DyCM directed the concerned officers to ensure that benefit of the same percolate down to grass roots. He emphatically said that proper implementation of decisions taken in DDB’s should be priority of the concerned officers, for which he said that an effective monitoring mechanism will be put in place.
Member Parliament Jugal Kishore while speaking on the occasion raised various issues which also include sports stadium at Birpur, flyover at Chichi Mata temple and approach road to Central University etc.
MLA Samba also raised various demands and issues of public importance like completion of pending works of lanes and drains, construction of auditorium at Samba, augmentation of power and water supply system, clearance of liabilities under SDRF, installation of digital X-Ray machine at District Hospital Samba, Handicrafts centre in the district and creation of assets for growth of local economy.
MLA Hiranagar also raised issues of public importance and sought adequate funding for the projects aimed at improving basic amenities.
Earlier, District Development Commissioner Samba Sheetal Nanda gave a power point presentation on physical and financial achievements under different sectors in the district during 2015-16. She apprised the board that against an availability of Rs 61.43 crore, an expenditure of about 96% was achieved. She said out of 2,086 works taken up 1,728 were completed during the last financial year.
