JAMMU, May 20: The BSF today apprehended a Pakistani national, who was trying to exfiltrate to Pakistan from Arnia sector along the International Border (IB).
He has been identified as Zahid Farooq, 30, son of Mohammad Anwar, a resident of Mawa Morh, Sahakot in Chechawali area of Pakistan.
Police parties from RS Pura police station headed by SHO Inspector Bushan Manhas also reached the spot to join investigations as the Pakistani national had escaped from police custody in Khour during 2008 after his arrest in 2006, official sources said.
During preliminary questioning, the Pakistani national revealed that he was apprehended by Army in April 2006 along with Mohammad Imran  R/o Faisalabad, Pakistan when he entered into India through Line of Control (LoC) in Khour area of Akhnoor sector.
He disclosed that he was convicted by the Court and had undergone 28 months of imprisonment. After being released from jail, he managed to slip and went to Mumbai. Thereafter the individual returned soon to Amritsar, stayed there in a civilian house on rent and worked as a labourer for last few years.
Few days back, he returned to Jammu via Vyas and on Thursday afternoon, he was found moving suspiciously in the border area. Alert BSF troops kept his activities under surveillance  and once he reached nearby area of BOP, he was inquired upon.
He immediately ran towards the border fence at International Boundary, where he was overpowered by alert BSF troops. The apprehended Pakistani person has been handed over to the police station R S Pura for further questioning.
