POONCH, May 11: Shamsheer Hakla Poonchi the prominent Gujjar leader of the State today urged the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to introduce a bill in the coming session of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly for continuance of the promotions of State Government employees belonging to Schedule Tribe, Schedule Caste and other backward classes and resident of backward areas communities of the State.
In a statement issued here today Hakla said that in every sphere of life, reservation is the need of the hour and is a necessity for Schedule Tribe, Schedule Caste, Other Backward Classes’ communities.
He said that the State Government should take keen interests in this regard and enact a law so that the people belonging to down-trodden communities in the State get equal opportunities of progress and can compete with the others in the life. He said for overall progress of the State upliftment and welfare of every member of the society is must and it is the basic objective of the democracy as well.
