NEW DELHI, Sept 17:
The Supreme Court today indicated to R K Anand, an advocate who has been held guilty of influencing a key witness in BMW hit and run case,that he will have to pay Rs 20 lakh to Delhi Legal Aid Services.
A bench comprising Justices G S Singhvi, Aftab Alam and C K Prasad also told R K Anand that he will have to do only free legal aid cases for one year if he wants his sentence to be set aside.
Anand, an eminent lawyer of Delhi was caught on camera asking a key witness Kulkarni to demand Rs five crore from Nandas or turn hostile, in a sting operation conducted by a private English news channel.
Anand has been directed to give an undertaking in writing stating there in that he was ready to comply with all these conditions before next Monday and the case shall be taken up for hearing on September 24.
