JAMMU, Sept 15: Principal Sessions Judge Kathua, M K Hanjura has acquitted one Ram Lal, son of Janak Raj of Jakh, who was facing trial for committing the murder of one Sanji Ram. The Court also took serious note of the functioning of investigating agency and mentioned that no attempt was made to find out any amount of evidence.
According to the police case, on June 27, 2006 skeleton of Sanji Ram, son of Jattu Ram of village Chan Aroria was recovered from the bank of river Ravi under the jurisdiction of Police Station Lakhanpur.
Accordingly, proceedings under Section 174 CrPC were initiated to find out the reasons that led to the death of Sanji Ram. During the proceedings, the commission of crime was traced to the accused. Accordingly, a case under Section 302 RPC was registered and on the completion of the investigation challan was presented in the Court.
After hearing PP Ravi Kumar Gupta for the State whereas Advocate AS Slathia for the accused, Principal Sessions Judge Kathua, M K Hanjura took serious note of the way the investigation was conducted in the case and said that no attempt was made to find out any amount of evidence.
With these observations, Court acquitted Ram Lal of the charges leveled against him for committing murder.
