JAMMU, Apr 17: Acting tough against gang fights, police foiled a murder plan by arresting four gangsters along with three country made pistols, live cartridges and sharp-edged weapons from Nanak Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Trikuta Nagar police station.
As per police sources, on specific information received from reliable sources that some criminals have hatched conspiracy to murder their rival, a team from Trikuta Nagar police station laid a naka near Nanak Nagar and signaled an Etios car to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Anticipating something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered three country made pistols, two live-cartridges, one magazine and four sharp-edged weapons and arrested four persons, traveling in the car.
The accused have been identified as Harjeet Singh alias Jumbo, son of Gurmukh Singh of Nanak Nagar, Gurmeet Singh alias Chotu, son of Rajinder Singh of Preet Nagar, Aijaz Ahmed, son of Sain Mohammad of Thandi Khui, district Samba and Balwinder Singh, son of Balwant Singh of Pathankot.
During preliminary investigation, it came to fore that all the arrested accused are noted-gangsters and were on their way to eliminate Tina, who earlier escaped their attempt to murder bid by Jumbo near High Court.
Harjeet Singh alias Jambo is already wanted in various criminal cases registered with different police stations including Gandhi Nagar, Janipur, etc.
Swift and timely action by the cops thwarted their nefarious designs and averted possible law and order situation.
This is a major success after the arrest of a noted criminal Vikramjeet Singh, on whom Public Safety Act (PSA) has been slapped by District Magistrate recently.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered against them at police station Trikuta Nagar and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Trikuta Nagar police station Inspector Kuldeep Khajuria foiled the murder plot under the supervision of DySP Operations (Officiating SDPO East) Vishal and SP South Shaazad Salaria.
The arrest of the gangsters was possible due to keen interest taken by of SSP Jammu Dr Sunil Gupta, who has asked the police cops to act tough against criminals and gang rivalries.
