3 killed, 10 hurt in mishap

RAJOURI, Apr 15: Three persons were  killed while 10 others  injured, some of them  seriously, when a Tempo Traveler fell into a gorge after being hit by a mini-bus near Budhal this afternoon.
Reports said that mishap took place at around 4.30 pm when the Tempo Traveler bearing registration No. JK-20/6200 was on its way to Sungri-Chassana in Mahore from Budhal (Rajouri).  As it had covered hardly a distance of one kilometer and was  stopped on the road side to pick up some passengers, a mini-bus coming from the other side hit the vehicle with strong force and pushed it down into the gorge.
The uncontrolled mini-bus earlier reportedly crushed 12 sheep and goats moving in a flock on the road before pushing  down the Tempo Traveler. The driver of the mini bus escaped from the spot after leaving behind the mini-bus at the site.
Total 13 persons including driver were on board the ill-fated vehicle, when it rolled down the hilly road.  The people of the area rushed  for the rescue operation. The police party from Budhal also reached there.  Jawans of 60 RR  and GREF  later joined them. All the persons were evacuated to local Budhal hospital.
One Mohd Ramzan, son of Mohd Razaq, resident of Sanglikote in Mahore (Reasi) was killed on the spot, whereas, Shahbaz, son of Mohd Nazir, resident of Majra Kund in Mahore succumbed to injuries while being shifted to District Hospital, Rajouri. Gulzar Ahmed, son of Abdullah, resident of Sanglikote passed away in Rajouri hospital late this evening.
The injured were shifted to DH Rajouri in a local and an Army ambulances. Naib  Tehsildar Budhal Khursheed Tantray said that most of the injured were serious but the condition of  four was critical.   He said Army help was sought in shifting  the injured to Rajouri and they provided an Ambulance. A private vehicle was also hired for shifting the injured to Rajouri, he said.
The injured have been identified as Mohd Hafiz, son of Mohd Ayub, resident of Thalkote; Mohd Hanief, son of Sakhi Mohd from Thanmol; Rishpal Singh, son of  Sukhdev Singh from Mallikote; Jaswant Singh, son of Munshi Ram from Sanglikote; Abdul Latief, son of  Sakhi Mohd from Thakrakote; Manzoor Ahmed, son of Mohd Sharief; resident of Malikote; Shamim Akhter, daughter of Manzoor Hussain from Thakarakote and Mohd Imtiaz, son of Haji Mohd Shafi, resident of Rajnagar Budhal. The police has registered a case in this connection and it was searching for the absconding driver of mini-bus.
