JAMMU, Apr 14: Carrying out its mission to serve the society, NGO ‘Sikhs for Humanity’, to mark the festival of Baisakhi, joined hands with Blood Bank GMC and SMGS Hospital to organize a blood donation camp for helping children suffering with Thalassemia here at Gurdwara Chhatti Paatshahi, Talab Tillo, today, being celeberated as ‘Sajna Divas’ of Khalsa Panth.
Speaking on the occasion, Coordinator ‘Sikhs for Humanity’ Surinder Singh Bunty advocate said that Thalassemia is the most common, inherited single gene disorder in the world. “Children with Thalassemia are not able to make enough haemoglobin, which causes severe anemia.
Around 52 units of blood were donated by the volunteers of the organisation and sangat present at Gurudwara Sahib during the camp. Refreshment and appreciation certificates were also given to volunteers. Meanwhile, ‘Sikhs for Humanity’ appealed to volunteers to register their names for forthcoming blood donation camps.
