JAMMU, Apr 13: Anti-Vehicle Theft and Recovery (AVTAR) team arrested a thief and recovered stolen car.
As per police sources, on April 11, a person namely Rohit Kumar, son of Ashok Kumar of Rajiv Nagar, Narwal Bala reported that some unidentified persons had stolen his Maruti 800 car bearing registration number JK02V-3334 from Narwal.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 66/16 under Section 379 RPC was registered at Bahu Fort police station and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, several suspects were picked up for questioning and out of them one of the suspects broke down and confessed to having committed the theft.
The accused has been identified as Deepak Kumar, son of Vijay Kumar, a resident of Qasim Nagar, Narwal.
On his disclosure, the stolen car, whose number plate was changed by the accused, was recovered from Transport Nagar roadside.
Further questioning of the accused is going on.
AVTAR team led by SHO Bahu Fort Inspector Kuldeep Khajuria and assisted by Incharge Narwal police post SI Mehmood Khan made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO East Chandan Kohli and SP South Shaazad Salaria.
