REASI, Apr 13: “Manavta Da Rishta”, a Dogri play was presented today by a renowned theater director, M Akram Khan, here at Aghar Jitto, Katra, in connection with Baisakhi festival.
The play was written by Shiv Kumar Sharma and directed by M Akram Khan. The play was supported by Ministry of Culture (Government of India).
The main character of the play, Anil, is still issueless even after 14 years of marriage with Nisha. One of the character, Taro (a women of traditional thinking) mounts pressure upon him to marry second so as to get the child to keep the name of family alive. But his wife does not like so.
Anil is in dilemma and wants to keep happy both his mother and wife but mother is adamant to get him married second time. However, his friend Vrinder, offers him to adopt his child. But mother is not convinced.
Ultimately, Anil agrees to marry. One day, Anil visits to watch a programme of handicapped children where he decides to adopt a child. Anil reaches home with one Pandit who is old and inform person and friend of Anil’s deceased father. Anil disclosed his intentions not to marry but to adopt orphan handicapped child. The mother objects but was convinced by the Pandit and finally Anil adopts a handicapped orphan child. The marriage celebrations turn into birth ceremonies.
Former Minister, Jagjeevan Lal, was the chief guest while Er Hemraj Langeh was the guest of honour. BS Sharma, president, STG, presided over the event.
The artists who performed in the play were Barkha Thakur, Rafit Yasmeen, Ajay Waguzari, Akram Khan, Raja Aamir Khan, Alka Thakur and Shadab Khan. The Music was given by Romesh Parwana, Sets were designed by Anam Khan, Costumes by Raja Sohail, Make-up by Parveen Akhtar, play back singing by Ajaz Khan and Purnima Sharma. The lights were executed by Rajesh Ajnabi, photography by King Studio, Props by Rashad Khan and design by M Akram Khan.
