JAMMU, Apr 11: Activists of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad and students of Jammu University today held a strong protest demonstration seeking action against the Policemen responsible for brutal lathicharge on students of NIT Srinagar, last Tuesday.
After boycotting their classes, a number of students and ABVP activists took out a march on the campus and then tried to move towards the Press Club Jammu for staging a massive dharna there in support of their demand. However, Police stopped the protesting students near the University main gate.
Infuriated over the Police action, the ABVP activists staged a dharna on the road and disrupted vehicular movement. They also stopped the vehicle of Director General of Police, K Rajendra, who persuaded the students to disperse off and assured that necessary would be taken after the inquiry into the incident of lathicharge.
