JAMMU, Apr 11: Renowned Dogri writer, Shakunt Deepmala has bagged this year’s Prof Ram Nath Smriti Puruskar for her collection of Dogri short stories titled ‘Sukkhan’.
The award carries Rs 21,000 cash, a shawl, a memento and a citation. Prof Ram Nath Shastri Memorial Award has been instituted by Dogri Sanstha and is sponsored by the family members of Shastriji.
The award is given annually for the best first book of Dogri written by an author in the preceding five years. The award would be presented to Deepmala on April 14, on the eve of Prof Shastri’s birthday.
