Workshop on ‘Appraisal cum Data Validation’ commences at SKUAST-J

JAMMU, Sept 12: Two days workshop on “Appraisal cum Data Validation” organized by National Information System on Agricultural Education Network in India (NISAGENET) commenced today at Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), Chatha.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr KS Risam, Director Extension, SKUAST-J.
The nodal officers from 22 institutes of the country are participating in the workshop.
Dr Risam, in his keynote address apprised that NISAGENET is a decision support system for agricultural education and research in the country. He added, that sixty-three farm universities/institutions comprising of 526 constituent and affiliated colleges imparting agricultural, veterinary, fishery, dairy, horticulture and forestry education in India are part of the network.
Dr RC Goyal, Principal Investigator of NISAGENET in his introductory address dwelled upon the different activities of the network and its role in agricultural educational planning at national and State level. The web portal provides single window information on academics, infrastructure facilities, budget provisions, manpower and research and development activities of all the agricultural universities and deemed universities of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The web portal also enables the aspiring students in selecting the disciplines and institution of their interest for pursing undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
The inaugural session was attended by Dr AS Bali, Director Research, Dr RM Bhagat, Director Education, Dr JP Sharma and Dr SK Gupta, Deans of the faculties, Heads of the divisions of the faculties.
