JAMMU, Feb 10: Nagrota police arrested six persons for smuggling 13 bovine animals to Valley.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Nagrota police station laid a naka near TCP Nagrota and signaled a truck having registration number JK02AB-4337, Mahindra bearing registration number JK02BG-9285 and TATA Mobile having temporary registration number JMU-8722 for checking.
On seeing police cops, the drivers accelerated the vehicles and tried to escape, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicles at some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police rescued 13 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested six persons.
The accused have been identified as Sukhvinder Kumar, son of Rattan Lal of Miran Sahib, Surinder Kumar, son of Payara Lal of Chohala, RS Pura, Barkat Ali, son of Haneef Ali of Rajpur, Sua Number 1, Mohammad Yaqoob, son of Haji Babu of Miran Sahib, Mohammad Ashraf, son of Abdul Rashid of Udhampur and Farid Hussain, son of Qasim Din of RS Pura.
A case under FIR Number 38/16 under Section 188 RPC has been registered at Nagrota police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota police station Inspector Karan Chalotra made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan, SP Rural Rajiv Pandey and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
