SRINAGAR, Feb 10: Police in South Kashmir’s Shopian district have foiled an attempt of bank robbery by two persons last night.
A police official said they last night apprehended two people while they were trying to break into Keegam unit of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in the district. A patrol party smelled some suspicious movement in the area following which extreme alertness was shown by the team and a major bank robbery was foiled, he said.
The two arrested men have been identified as Bashir Ahmad Ganai of Jam Nagri village of Shopian and Irshad Ahangar of Keegam. “The operation was supervised by Station House Officer Keegam Sheikh Adil under the overall supervision of Superintendent of Police Altaf Khan and Deputy SP Zahoor Wani,” the police official added.
