CEC highlights achievements of new council in 90 days

LEH, Feb 10: Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Dr Sonam Dawa projected the achievements of the new council in the past 90 days.
Addressing media persons, CEC, said that grant of the status of deeming Central Institute of Buddhist Studies Choglamsar last month as University is a major achievement of the new council.
Highlighting other achievements, Dr Dawa said that Nubra and Nyoma regions will be included in the Alchi Hydel Project and efforts are also being made for inclusion of Durbuk sub-division in the same transmission line.
He maintained that approval has been granted under Centre Road Fund (CRF) for construction of four roads of Spituk to Choglamsar Zampa, Urbis Road, Achinathang Lungpa, and Khaksted to Chushul, approval granted for four hostels under RMSA to educationally backward blocks of Sumoor, Sakti, Nyoma and Tangtse blocks, 80 per cent work of blockage removal of Indus river at Bema village has been conducted successfully and that parking problem will be resolved.
He added that Defence Minister has assured to increase air tonnage in the Army flights and maximum procurement of local products by army which will benefit farmers.
He further said that all the members of the Council are keen on making developments in agriculture and horticulture sectors like Seabuckthorn, Pashmina and other cash crops.
Dr Dawa maintained that sponsoring food processing units of jam and juice in Khaltsi and Alchi villages by NHPC, carrying out of Leh Beautification project in systematic manner, process of filling up of vacancies in different departments by Chief Secretary, process of repairing 40 tokpos and nallahs, decision of having 9 flights daily from the month of March, conducting of recent SSRB exam for the first time in Leh, approvals for the Nimoo-Padum-Darcha as National Highway; construction of four-lane road from ITBP upto Kharu and building of two-lane bridge at Choglamsar over Indus river are also achievements of the new council.
Executive Councillor for Works Dorjey Motup, Agriculture Tsering Wangdus, Tourism Tsering Sandup and other Councillors also highlighted their achievements under their respective portfolio.
