JAMMU, Feb 4: The Jammu and Kashmir State Public Sector Employees & Workers Federation (PSEWF), a body of 15 State Public Sector Undertakings and Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) led by Qayoom Wani today joined hands and came on single platform and resolved to launch joint collective struggle for the employees cause.
While addressing a joint press conference president of EJAC, Abdul Qayoom Wani and Wajahat Hussain, president PSEWF said that an honest beginning has been made to forge unity among the employees. It is hoped that others will also take cue from this attempt and join hands to come on single platform for the common cause of the over 4.5 lakh employees of the State working in various Government departments and Public Sector Undertakings. This is the need of the hour to get united and exert pressure on the Government for the resolution of their pending issues, they added.
Mr Wajahat declared that all the members of his Federation have decided to join hands with the EJAC led by Mr Wani and also accorded full support to the protest programme outside Raj Bhawan on February 13 in support of ReTs and SSA teachers. Many organizations have already accorded support to this proposed protest programme against the Government. He also appealed other employees’ bodies to shun ego and come forward for forging unity among the employees.
Mr Wani alleged that Government has failed to mitigate the pending demands of the employees and workers. He demanded that all type of temporary/ daily rated/ consolidated workers be regularized by framing a definite recruitment policy, pay anomalies of the clerical cadre be removed, 6 % DA installment be released, Medical allowance be enhanced from Rs 300 to Rs 2000 per month besides addressing other pending issues of the employees.
Chairman of the PSEWF, Haji Bashir Ahmed, Paramjeet Singh general secretary, Ganesh Khajuria provincial president EJAC-Q also spoke on the occasion.
