JAMMU, Feb 3: Department of Students Welfare in Jammu University organized a workshop on Positive Thinking, here today.
The resource persons for the workshop were; Dr Manu Arora, Consultant Psychiatrist, Govt Medical College, Jammu, Prof Aarti Bakhshi, Head, Department of Psychology JU and Dr Neelika Arora from Central University, Jammu.
All the resource persons, in a very interactive manner, explained different reasons and outcomes of negative thinking and also guided the students how to get rid of it and take the help of positive thinking to achieve peace of mind.
During the workshop, which was attended by the elected student representatives, Departmental Cultural Secretaries of all the departments and Faculty members, some psychological games/exercises were also conducted.
In his Keynote Address, Shantmanu, Chief Electoral Officer, dwelt on the importance of Positive Thinking in one’s life through several comprehensive examples of how a shift in the attitude from negative to positive can change the whole world around us. He stressed on how the positive state of mind can be attained by giving some tips on positive thinking.
In his inaugural addressed, Jammu University Vice Chancellor, Prof R D Sharma stressed on developing a positive approach towards life to avoid worries and negative thinking. “By adopting positive approach as a way of life, it would bring constructive changes into our life, and make us happier, brighter and more successful, he added.
The Vice Chancellor emphasized on developing the habit of thinking and also explained how thoughts are related to one’s future. “Thoughts become words and words become action. If one does an action continually, then it becomes a habit and will manifest itself in one’s character and the character becomes the foundation and gets reflected in ones future,” he explained.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Prof Pankaj K Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare, gave a brief overview of the workshop.
The formal vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Anupama Vohra, Associate Dean Students Welfare.
